What brought you to Charlotte?

I was in Augusta for six years in the Augusta Mall with my boutique. I always liked the Charlotte area, and l was looking for more growth. My husband was working for Norfolk Southern. So when he retired two years ago, I asked him. I said, “Babe, since you retired now, can we just move to Charlotte?” He said, “yes.” So we’re here.

What does your boutique sell?

I have a bridal, formal-type boutique. Everything pertaining to weddings. I specialize in formal events. I also do proms, mother-of-the-bride dresses and all-around formal clothing. We have a few items for men, mainly accessories like neckties and bowties.

Where is your shop located?

8152 South Tryon Street, Suite F

What do you like best about Charlotte?

It has a lot of eateries. When I’m looking for somewhere to eat, I tell my husband, “I’m going to Google it,” and I find something. I don’t have to worry about finding something. The people here are friendly. For fun, we go to Middle C Jazz. I like that.

What do you like least about Charlotte?

That’s something I haven’t really pondered on.

What does Charlotte need more of?

I think it needs more Black-owned businesses. I do see some Black-owned businesses, but I think they need more support. They need people to really support them.
